It is a sad day today for me, with Farah Faucett and Michael Jackson both dying today. I loved Michael Jackson's showmanship and music, his dancing, his look. Of course, things got weird for him, and maybe he got weird, too, but I believe still that the world will miss the music that he had yet to make.
While Farah's death was expected, it still reminds us of our own mortality. She was once so beautiful and so strong. I respect how she journaled very openly till her death about her feelings.
Ed McMahon's deaths also came this week. So while everything else is going well for me, this is kind of a sad day.

"MAYBE he got weird?" What would you call dangling a baby out of a window God knows how many stories high? Let's not forget that his relationship with children was well, dubious to put it mildly. Just because he got aquitted, don't mean he ain't guilty. Haven't we learned this from the OJ Simpson trial? He did have very much the same legal team as O.J.
ReplyDeleteNow because he's dead, we remember him as a tortured soul who had oodles of talent, supposedly.
Let's not forget the children he was 'inappropriate' with. The very fact that he settled these law suits is in itself an admission of guilt. If one were really innocent with the legal dream team he had, he would gone all the way; taken it to a jury.
What about these children? They will more than likely never be the same again.
As for Farrah, I'm surprised her death has not brought nearly the air time. Let's remember her for her courage during those last years & her accomplishments in playing such difficult roles like in "The Burning Bed" with Paul Le Mat & "Small Sacrifices" as the sociopathic mom.
Courage; something Michael Jackson never had & Farrah did.
I am not going to minimize anyone's inappropriate behavior with children. As a victim of "inappropriate behavior" myself, I can testify to the harm that can be done by that.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid that I am only sad about 3 of the 4. I will try on number 4, but I don't thnk I can succeed.

Right on----MJ was a very mixed up human being.
ReplyDeleteMichael was exploited from childhood by his parents and his wranglers. He had no education, and I doubt if he had much influence from "normal" people. As a result, he was a mess. A talented mess, but a mess.
ReplyDeleteFarrah was a beauty who made some questionable choices along the way.
Ed McMahon kept marrying women half his age.
Didn't realize that Walter Cronkite had passed.
The lesson I take from this is never envy anyone. Michael had talent, Farrah had beauty, and Ed amazing luck. Bottom line, I'd rather be me.

Janee, I'm sorry that you had to go through such things in your childhood. No child should ever have to go through any kind of trauma. From reading your blog though, you seem pretty well adjusted.
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for sometime now...yes even from French Canada.
This comment is somewhat unrelated to this entry but...
I have been following your blog for sometime now...who knew someone from as far as French Canada would know about you.
My boyfriend actually speaks of wintering in Arizona when (or if) we retire.
Actually, I started with your photoshop tutorials & have created some neat things using some of your techniques. I even entered a Halloween themed contest of your's some years ago.
I have been commenting on this subject on my facebook page, responding to comments that I decided to discuss it in today's entry.
I am new to blogging. Check it out: http://sistersagesmusings.blogspot.com/. Of course anyone else who views this while commenting is also welcome to view it.
You missed a good but hot field day

Just thought I'd let y'all know.....Walter Cronkite is gravely ill, but is still with us.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear about Walter. Might he make it a while longer.

MJ was a man of 50 years old. He had more money than most to seek the help he needed due to his rotten childhood. There is no excuse for his behaviour and I just want to puke at the aduklation he is receiving in the media. The man was a predator with the title Wacko Jacko, now that he is dead, he is a king. What BS!
ReplyDeleteI agree
ReplyDeleteTo whomever you are above...thank you!! Up until now, I thought I was alone...
ReplyDeleteWhat's frightening about this whole thing is that if you're famous with a twisted childhood, it's ok to hurt children...
And what's even scarier is that most of Wacko Jacko's supporters are parents of young kids themselves...God please watch over these children.
Would these parents seriously allow their children into the bed of an adult who is not a parent?? & even then...
Sorry an acquittal is just not enough to prove he wasn't preying on children. Guilty people get acquitted everyday...especially when they use lawyers that OJ Simpson used & innocent people get convicted.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm glad he can't hurt anymore children.

ReplyDeleteHi Janee, it's been a while since you last posted. Are you doing OK?
ReplyDeleteHi, everyone!
ReplyDeleteBlogger's having some issues, and one of them is making it impossible for me to make a new posting!
Let me just say that I'm fine -- doing really well, actually. We are done with the deck that we built for Annette and it looks great.
We went down to Bloomington, just for a day. We didn't have time to do much or to visit people, because I had some business to take care of, basically.
I am sorry for opening a can of worms, expressing sorrow at MJ's death. I will say again that he was wacko and inappropriate, and if, indeed, he molested children, he behaved unforgivably. I will also say that I found him to be incredibly talented, and I love to watch him.
I'm not going to allow further comment about MJ in my blog. There are plenty of forums for that sort of discussion, and this won't be one of them. Thanks for understanding!

ReplyDeleteI just wish there was more discussion of Farrah. But if wishes were horses beggers would ride. Hopefully the software gets fixed.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to miss out on dropping on on the gang down here in Bloomington. We miss you.
