Yep! Yet another trip to Goodwill! I also took a small bag of food to the Community Food Bank. So .. where am I coming up with all this stuff to give away? Today's stuff was more clothes -- some jeans that were too tight and always made me feel fat, some pajamas that I got last season, but which always were just a little too warm. I gave away two throws (how many throws does a 400 sq foot house need? LOL) and an extraneous extension cord (that had no ground wire). A few more shirts that I won't wear, because I don't have them anymore. I won't miss them, either.
I managed to get the cabinets up above the bed against the (high) ceiling emptied. Of course.. LOL these are not exactly handy, but I didn't need any of the things in there. I cleaned out the bottom of my closet, too, moving my knitting (the 15-year afghan project that I can't bring myself to finish, and I can't bring myself to give away.. yet) and my origami stuff out of there.
While I was in there, I found my ocarina and my Irish tin whistle! So, of course, I had to take a break and remind myself how to play these. The tin whistle is just like the reed recorder that I used to play when I was a teenager. I wonder if Annette remembers that! LOL!
I got my little Christmas tree put up this morning, strung the lights and the bead garland. I think it looks cute in the window -- a little spartan compared to my neighbors' fabulous displays, but there can be only one "best," and I'll let someone else have that honor.
I have a comment about Comments. For those of you who add comments on my blog, you KNOW how much fun these are to read and to make. I love getting them. It thrills me to know that I'm writing stuff that's interesting enough for you to comment upon, and to know what you like to see and read.
For the rest of you who have yet to comment, I wonder if you've noticed the Comments link at the end of each posting. Click that word "Comments" and you'll get to the comments! You can see what other people have said about this posting, and you can leave your own comment, too.
You don't have to sign your name, but I hope you will. You don't have to have a Google account. But you do have to type in a letter "challenge." This is a test that I've chosen to add, in order to keep computer bots out of my blog. (Bots are programs that automatically send out advertising.)

Hi, Janee,
ReplyDeleteDo I win a prize for being your first comment today? Ha. Sounds like you have been scurrying around as usual. I need to make myself do that, too. Living in a house for 28 years fills up closets! Like my complete set of avocado green Samsonite hard sided luggage. Think they'd let me on a plane with that antique?
I like your haircut, by the way. Makes you look younger!
Enjoy the warm sunshine. It's c-o-l-d in Dallas.
Love, Lynell
I WONDERED why I had to copy a word to post a comment. Now I know. Your closet cleaning makes me think I need you here! I have a terrible time throwing away or giving away anything that I think I might possibly want at some time, even though that time might be in the distant future. Is there hope for me?!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like your haircut too. Really classy.
Love, Kathryn
It's cold in Ohio and going to get colder; I like your hair too; very stylish. I am working on Christmas cards--first ones I am sending since Ted was dx with his BT and is now gone; I am proud of myself :)

Hey, Sis. I wanted to tell you I left work at 3 to get to the CU and get your check. Then I had to make it to the license branch to get all that changed over. Then I had to get to Plainfield to take my Lincoln back.
ReplyDeleteI got it all done in 1 1/2 hours!!! Yes, no issues anywhere. There was no line in the license branch and the only thing they had to do was double check the VIN number with the title. All was good. The lease on my Lincoln closed out with me owing nothing. I didn't think I would, but nice to know.
Whew...so back home now and instead of going out to celebrate, Steve and I went to the store and got a rib roast to have. It is on the George Forman rotisserie going round and round for the next several hours, then YUM.
I will put the check in the priority US mail tomorrow. Will you please send me your mailing addresses in my @msn.com email. I want to be sure I have it right and I forgot to write it down off the title before they took it at the branch.
I have no plans this weekend, so it will be time to dig out the tree and wrap presents.
Take care. Love you. Sis.
Looking at Lynell's comment up above ↑. We have a set of that same Advocado Green Samsonite hard luggage hanging around as well. It was a graduation high school graduation gift from her parents. Circa 1972 or so. Patsy periodically makes comments about getting rid of it. But I have a hard time getting rid of things even though I'm the one who keeps saying we spend the first 40 years of life accumulating stuff and the last 40 years getting rid of it.
ReplyDeleteHi Janee! Still following your journey through life. Envious of you being able to travel.
Have a Great Day,
Jim
