Sudoku and Boggle sites

All work and no play makes Janee a very dull girl... and I refuse to be dull! I've discovered some nice sites with games I like. I love puzzle games like Boggle and Sudoku. So here are some links for good sites for this type of game:

USA Today Sudoku
-- Best ever Sudoku interface
Jigsawdoku -- Very fun, colorful, and lots of neat options
Interactive online Boggle -- You can play by yourself or with others .. and you can make it onto the current high scorers list
Lyndsey's Mania -- Several games to make you think. Fun site, though the interfaces are primitive and the site's pretty slow. Also give the geography quizzes a try!

Today was another beautiful day in Bloomington. I worked a little in the garage, and worked a lot on my classes with my students. Signups are coming in already for the Fall Session, so this is exciting!

I went to the doctor ydy about my foot. I'd hurt it when I wore those pretty shoes for Zoobilation. What happened is that a callus that I have on the bottom of my foot rubbed against a nerve that's in my tendon sheath.. something like that. I have medicine to put on it and a little pad that goes over it. And I'm supposed to stay off it for a week.

So we took a short walk on campus with Maddy this evening. :)

Electrical shrimp?

We frequently do serve shrimp when we have parties, but we didn't have shrimp on Saturday. But, while making our preparations for our picnic, Michael and I simultaneously smelled an overwhelming fishy shrimpy odor throughout the house. We had to get ready for the folks, so we just stuck some cinnamon on a tray and baked it and that got rid of the fishy smell.

But then, later in the day, we went into my office and the lights didn't work. And the power went off in the RV, too.

Well.. Michael, genius that he is, connected the fish smell and the lights not working. He googled [ "fish smell" electrical ] and got his answer. Wiring insulation burning can make this smell!

A call to our electrician this morning and Tony got it fixed. We'd had a connection go bad in a breaker. It wasn't anything that we did, and nothing we could have prevented.

These are a couple of pics of this mess. The first one is before Tony took out the bad breaker. The 2nd one is after he took it out.

Weekend update

We had a great weekend! On Friday afternoon, we went and picked up the chickens from Butcher's Block. We scurried around getting picnic fare and readying things.

Saturday we started the day with blueberry pancakes before our workout at Cardinal Fitness. Then we did some touchup cleaning and got the food all ready. Michael did his chicken on the grill, using brother in-law Steve's time-tested and delicious recipe. We did corn on the cob on the grill. And I made veggies which were most yummy too! I did red bell peppers, summer squash, and zucchini with a clove of garlic and 2T of olive oil. All in the microwave and so beautiful and festive!

We also had a green salad that Peggy brought, Ann's wonderful brownies, and Carla brought a strawberry rhubarb pie, one of Michael's favorite things.

And then we were all set to go over to the Picnic with the Pops, when Bob suggested that we just eat at our house! I did not have to be asked twice. It was hot out and I would almost always rather eat in than share with bugs. So after our feast, we headed over to the Pops concert. That is always a really good time, with lots of happy kids running around with glowy things adorning themselves and music and good friends.

Then we got home and did the dishes, so that we would have a nice gleaming kitchen in the morning.

And we did! After breakfast and our trip to the gym, we came home and crashed with good stuff on TV (Twilight Zone marathon) and slept most of the afternoon!
