Looking at RV's

Today we helped Harold with his move for a little while. Then we went down to LaMesa RV to have lunch and a look around. We found some nice RV's, including one that we both really liked. It's a Navion H, a 2008, barely used with just 11,000 miles, with a much better floorplan than mine. It has a slideout, giving me lots more walkaround room. It has a comfy sofa .. and a dinette! It has the bed above, which I would have taken out and put in some nice cabinetry. You can see it here and you can drag your mouse over the photo to make the camera move. The one I want has a pattern that includes a nice red.

So I almost bought it, but we couldn't come to an agreement on the deal. And now I'm wondering if I made the right choice.

Building a table

I got over my little bout with tummy ick and am now feeling just fine. Yesterday and today, Jack and I worked on building a table surrounding our little firepit. It is a 3' circular table, built of plywood and covered in pergo wood. It comes apart in halves, in case the table has to be taken off. Anyway, it's very cool and looks great.

People are starting to leave here now, just as the days are starting to get longer and a bit warmer. After Fun Day, most of the conversations around the Village are "When are you guys leaving?" Little lizards are running here and there, and the cacti are blooming in more profusion. This is a wonderful time of year here!

We went on some errands today. Jack's looking at a new camera, to replace the one that broke last fall. We went to In-and-Out Burgers, and that was fun as always. We took some stuff back to Lowe's and got some artisan bread from Beyond Bread. Good day!

Feeling Punk

I awoke today at 4 am with severe belly cramps, followed soon by diarrhea. :( At about 5:30, Jack went to get me Pepto Bismol, which is my favorite cure for this sort of thing. Two doses was all it took. I spent the rest of the day lazy, but not cramping or any of that other stuff. I did drink a lot during the day, and I'm continuing to eat normally.

So I spent the day playing games on my computer, while Jack did some of the same and also vacuumed and mopped the floors! At about 5pm, we went on a little walk, going to the clubhouse with some trash, down to Jordan's to bid them a safe trip, and then back here. Then we drove to Walmart and Fry's for some errands.

Now Jack's working on supper, which will be fried chicken livers, mashed potatoes, and corn. :)

A little spicy

Today we got into the sawmill finally and were able to get the wood cut and drilled for the new spice rack! And we got it finished and put into the cupboard. I love it!

We also went and fixed John's evaporative cooler's water line, which had burst in the Christmas cold.

Then we went out to Texas Roadhouse for a yummy dinner with John and MaryAnn. We really enjoy them, and had a fun time!

Here are a couple of photos of some of our friends who were at the party last evening:

More fun

Today we went to church, and then out to breakfast at the Good Egg.

Then we came back here and went to work. Jack worked on the spice rack a bit, and I worked on the food for the pitch-in (pot luck) that was happening today at the pool. I made a dish that mom used to make and she called it "glop." This was a little different, because it had not only an onion, a pound of ground beef, and tomato sauce, but also a small can of diced tomatoes, a teaspoon of garlic powder, and a teaspoon of chili powder. I substituted rigatoni for the macaroni, too, since that's all I had.

John and MaryAnn came over and Jack went over to work on their evaporative cooler tubing which had broken. I finished the glop and we headed off to the pool for the party.

The party was cool, with lots of nice people, music, and great food.

Jack and I went walking around the big block, and .. whoosh! Another day gone!

My ankle is feeling much better. While I can still feel that it's not perfect, I'm able to get around fine, and I'm back to daily walking, though I'm not ready to call it a "fitness walk" just yet.
